Located in a beautiful, picturesque setting in the Tennessee mountains, Captain Jim’s Restaurant & Seafood awaits hungry passers-by with fast, friendly service and delicious meals- no matter what you order!
Owner Keri Sbrizzi stays busy back in the kitchen, only pausing long enough to greet a few of her regular diners by name when she has a minute to spare. From the moment you enter, you are treated like family! On both of our recent visits, we were greeted and seated promptly. The wait staff there is exceptionally friendly and cheerful.
So I chose the Fried Oyster Platter. It comes with fries and Cole slaw, and I decided to add a small House salad. The oysters were very fresh, perfectly cooked and they tasted absolutely amazing! Fries and Cole slaw rounded out my meal. But one of the best surprises was the large, home-made buttery croutons on the salad! They were hands down the most delicious croutons I have ever eaten. In fact, my husband “stole” a couple of them! 😂
If you’re brave enough, try the Mountain Top burger! That’s what my husband ordered, and boy was it one awesome burger- a full 10 oz patty with several toppings! Don’t be surprised – if you opt for this burger, you may not be able to finish it in one sitting! When it was delivered to our table, my husband’s initial reaction was, “Wow, that’s huge!”. And if you know my husband, you know he can put away some food! He said it was absolutely delicious. It must have been, because he cleaned his plate in short order, including the fries it came with.
Captain Jim’s Restaurant and Seafood also offers many other menu items such as a variety of subs, hot dogs, chicken tender baskets and some other seafood dishes and platters to boot! There’s also a generous kids’ menu available.
I would have to conclude that this eatery is easily one of the best and most family friendly places in which I have had the pleasure of dining! If there are any cons at all, it would only be that you may want to arrive slightly before or slightly after the main meal times because most people in the area seem to flock to Captain Jim’s any time they can, and that’s definitely made apparent by the steady stream of folks coming and going every day.
So if you’re ever coming through Mountain City, TN, I would highly suggest making time to stop in to enjoy a wonderful home-cooked meal and good conversation in a beautiful setting!
